ABOUT TANNER…….
Tanner Cotton-Hinton is a 20-year-old young from Claremore, Oklahoma that has a great passion for hunting and fishing. Tanner was born with 1 kidney, which wasn’t functioning correctly at birth. Tanner’s first surgery was at the young age of 2 weeks. He had 2 more surgeries when he was 2 years old. Then it happened…On December 23, 2011 Tanner was thrown from a horse causing his only kidney to burst. He was rushed into surgery to remove the bleeding kidney. During this time his the doctors accidentally tore part of his aorta causing him to lose blood flow to his legs. They tried opening his legs to allow the muscles to have room to expand. This was unsuccessful, causing doctors to have to amputate both legs above the knees. During Tanner’s 13 days in ICU he under went 9 surgeries, dialysis 3 days a week and had to start cathing due to his bladder had given out. He also had a stent placed that was changed every 3 months because his ureter wasn’t contracting anymore. He was in the hospital until December 10, 2013. The first thing Tanner did when coming home from hospital was get out in his chair and shoot his bow. Since then he has been in and out of hospital many times for debridement, dialysis and other cosmetic surgery’s. A few months ago Tanners health was approved to get a kidney transplant. With no donors in sight his mother Michelle gave up one of her kidneys to TANNER…..Talk about LOVE!!
So how did Rutting Ridge outfitters, LLC fit into all this? Rutting Ridge outfitters, LLC is donated a whitetail hunt for fundraising for Tanner to get an action chair, which costs about $15,000. The money we raised bought Tanner his ACTION Chair and helped off set the costs of Tanner and his family going on hunt of a life time in Buffalo County, WI as well as a fishing trip. This will blow you away what this family went through…
Tanner is doing well and is going in the outdoors all over the country will aid of his ACTION CHAIR!
Rutting Ridge Foundation Inc. was created to help underprivileged and physically challenged youth and veterans enjoy a hunting/fishing trip of a lifetime that they would not normally be able to experience. From hunting giant whitetails & turkeys in Buffalo County, Wisconsin, to fishing for 10-pound walleyes in the Mississippi River, it’s an outdoor adventure they will never forget!
Their memorable experience doesn’t stop there. We also provide our wheelchair bound outdoorsmen & women, the means to be able to continue enjoying the outdoors, long after their trip with us is over. Through the generous donations received from our friends, supporters & sponsors we are able to provide them with their very own Action Chair. These tank type wheelchairs allow them to go off road/trail and into areas that standard wheelchairs can only hope to go. Mud & hills are nothing more than fun obstacles. The chairs become theirs to keep, so they can experience the outdoors on their terms and access all the areas they desire.
All donations are tax deductible
